If that holds, “what fans thought they knew about Joy Boy” isn’t a record Imu read somewhere — it’s a memory. 2. The Blade of Nothingness was built specifically to beat Joy Boy — not Luffy. The series has spent a thousand chapters building Nika, the Sun God, “the warrior of liberation,” into the thing the World Government fears most. A weapon that erases rather than just overpowers doesn’t read like a flex — it reads like insurance, engineered generations before Luffy was ever born. If that’s right, this fight was decided before it started, and Luffy’s real path forward isn’t more power, it’s finding what the blade doesn’t account for.
3. This is about the apology, not just the legend. Poneglyph lore already told us Joy Boy failed to keep a promise to Zunesha and spent his life apologizing for it. I don’t think Luffy wins this one on strength, and I don’t think Oda lets Imu finish the thought either. My bet: something outside the fight itself interrupts the moment — another Straw Hat, an allied force, or a second Void Century detail surfacing mid-sentence — before Imu can fully land the Joy Boy line. Oda’s pattern with reveals this size is to cut them off right before the payoff, not resolve them in one clean chapter.
